Coast Guard Wraps up First Half of Season

The Coast Guard Academy Bears wrapped up the fall semester of the 2009-2010 season after weekend games against the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Springfield College.

The Academy team had the honor to participate in U-Mass Amherst's annual Military Appreciation night recognizing those who serve our country, including those stationed locally in Amherst at Westover Air Reserve Base. The event featured a ceremonial puck drop between LTC Edward Miller, of Westover Air Reserve Base and LCDR Jaimee Amon from the Coast Guard Academy.

The University of Massachusetts prevailed in the game, by a 10-3 margin. Coast Guard had scoring chances, including several "pipes" but just couldn't find the back of the net often enough to keep pace with the Minutemen.

Scoring continued to plague the Bears against Springfield College as the Bear's lost by a final score of 2-8.

Coast Guard Cadet's are currently in the midst of finals before heading home for winter break. The first game in 2010 will be against Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Friday, January 15th.
